At the end of NCIS: Hawaii Season 2 Episode 11, Jane Tennant invites Kate Whistler over to her home to discuss Whistler’s career as an FBI agent. First, Whistler apologizes for Tennant turning down offers of help before Tennant emphasizes the fact that she considers Whistler family. Shortly after this episode aired, Twitter user @MonsterCe took to Twitter to share a clip of that scene with the caption, “Perfect ending to another GREAT episode!”
Likewise users @sharpen compared a screencap of an earlier episode in which Whistler declares himself familyless to the ending of Episode 11, adding that it made her cry. Meanwhile a fan account with the handle @whistlersarmy wrote, “Friendship goals are in all episodes but this scene is EVERYTHING!!!” in a tweet that also includes a clip of the scene where Tennant calls the Whistler family.
Interest in Tennant and Whistler’s friendship – dubbed Tensler by the NCIS: Hawaii fan base – was palpable early in this episode. Taking to Instagram shortly before the episode aired, Vanessa Lachey teased any ensuing drama involving her characters, drawing numerous comments praising her dynamic. It’s no surprise, then, that the way Tennant insists on her and Whistler’s family closeness has sparked such strong emotions among NCIS: Hawaii fans.
