As Variety reports, the just over two-minute trailer serenades viewers with Lou Reed’s “Perfect Day” and gets us started with footage of Maeve Millay (Newton), Caleb Nichols (Aaron Paul) and a concerned Ashley Stubbs ( Luke Hemsworth), who seems to turn a blind eye to the dangerous Man in Black (Ed Harris). The latter is shown moments later with a stoic expression as he sits down on a bloodied floor with blood on his ankles. This, of course, signals the end of the lull in favor of a, well, “Westworld” turn for the worse.
After the rather tame image of Bernard Lowe (Jeffrey Wright) – seemingly in Valley Beyond – witnessing a tree burst into flames and Charlotte Hale (Tessa Thompson) standing in the midst of a crowd of dancing people, things really get out of hand. Blood, myriad flies, violent renegade androids, gunfire and more make up the back half of the teaser, reminding us all that Westworld park is not what it says it is and that behind it is one dark secret after another hide .
The arrival of Westworld Season 4 is just around the corner, and while that teaser didn’t reveal many details about what it will have in store, what it has revealed proves it’s a must-see TV show.
