“The Winchesters” Episode 5 brought the shocking news that Ada was keeping a secret of the supernatural kind. Before becoming a monster slayer, she had a romance with a Djinn, and their relationship produced an offspring named Tony (Tyler Lofton), who inherited his father’s powers as well as some top-notch ninja skills. The good news, however, is that he didn’t inherit his old man’s bloodlust and instead uses his powers to help people.
Considering that The Winchesters hadn’t even remotely teased Ada about the idea of Ada having a son until this episode, the news came as a surprise to some viewers. “Okay, then you have to explain something to Ada.” @akhetherington tweeted, echoing the sentiments of many other fans. Luckily, Ada had a fitting explanation for keeping Tony’s existence a secret, revealing that she didn’t want her child to be hunted.
This view was shared by Reddit user Tourniquet_1991, who didn’t expect Ada to be the subject of such a big midseason twist. “An interesting take on Ada’s backstory wasn’t at all what I thought,” they wrote.
Elsewhere, some fans are hoping to see more of Tony in future episodes, as they feel he’s an interesting character with more to offer. “Okay Tony has to come back eventually and be back from time to time because I love him thanks.” @TWdailyupdates specified.
