A post on the r/dragonball subreddit asked fans what they thought was the worst arc in Dragon Ball Super. And while some of the answers had some interesting contenders, like introducing Goku Black and Copy Vegeta, two arcs kept coming up. Fans had problems with the “Golden Frieza Saga”, the anime version of the film “Resurrection ‘F'”. During the arc, Frieza comes back to life, gains a new form and almost takes Goku out in a surprise twist near the end, despite him and Vegeta dominating him for most of their fight. It should have made for an exciting point in the series. However, some fans felt it didn’t quite deliver. “‘RoF’ by far,” said one Redditor. “If you ignore the bad animations in the film and series, the story is underwhelming. Frieza resurrects due to fanservice, takes on a new form without evolution, and comes to earth.”
The anime version of the Golden Frieza Saga had the opportunity to expand on and fix story issues in the original film. But as u/GOLDEN_GROOD pointed out, apart from a few additions and changes, Super really dropped Dragon Ball. And maybe “Super” would have been better off adapting movies because some fans weren’t impressed with the “Beerus Saga” either. The story arc is the first in “Super” and tries to adapt the “Battle of Gods” movie. “As someone who liked ‘Super’ all I can say is that the existence of ‘Battle of Gods’ is a crime and not a good way to start ‘Super,'” wrote u/SuperThanosBros. Similar to Golden Frieza, some fans agreed that the anime retelling of this film didn’t add anything to an already shaky story.
