Speaking (appropriately enough for a Viking brawler) to MuscleAndFitness.com, Alexander Dreymon was eager to discuss the ins and outs of daily life on the set of The Last Kingdom. When asked if he does a lot of the stunts himself, the actor replied, “Oh yeah. I learned so much from my stunt double, Tamás Katrics.” Dreymon added that since he also spends a lot of time on the show on horseback, he’s benefited greatly from having the show’s stunt coordinator, Levente Lezsák, tutoring the cast how to handle their mounts. The actor then explained that he is well suited to doing his own horse stunts. “When I lived in South Dakota,” he said, referring to the time his family lived on a Native American reservation, “I jumped on a horse and just rode for hours. It’s the ultimate feeling of freedom.”

As an indicator of how proud he is of his blade-wielding, foe-busting work on The Last Kingdom, Dreymon posted this video to his Instagram feed, showing his character’s athletic prowess, not just a single enemy fighter, but to chop up more than half a dozen at once. With a caption that begins, “Rehearsal with my friend and stunt double @katrix.horse,” Dreymon concludes his Instagram tribute to his stunt work with his series cast members, writing, “Missing you all and can’t wait to see you all kick a***s again soon.”
