During the GQ interview, Daniel Radcliffe noted that he didn’t spend much time on set during the filming of Swiss Army Man, Kill Your Darlings, and Weird: The Al Yankovic Story.

“‘Swiss Army Man’ was 23 days, ‘Kill Your Darlings’ was about 24 days, another movie I won’t mention because it’s really bad and you won’t even ask me about it, so it’s okay, was about 16 days. I really love working like this,” shared the Extras actor. He then pointed out that every Harry Potter movie took months to shoot. Radcliffe explained that the time on set was beneficial because he remained full of energy, and he revealed that he feels more fulfilled when he shoots a lot of scenes for a movie in a short amount of time.

“The feeling of shooting five or six scenes in one day and getting them all is really, really fulfilling,” said Radcliffe. The actor said he’s particularly proud of an action sequence from Weird: The Al Yankovic Story that was shot in about four hours.

Weird: The Al Yankovic Story’s fast production schedule isn’t the only reason Radcliffe was excited to be cast as Weird Al. During an interview with Good Morning America in November 2022, the London native revealed that he became a fan of Yankovic thanks to his girlfriend of 10 years, Erin Darke. “Her family are all big Weird Al fans too, and yes, it was like the soundtrack to liking our Christmases and road trips,” Radcliffe said.
