The film will be available in sub and dub format for the first time! Many say the film is an adaptation of the 15th installment of the original Mobile Suite Gundam series.

In an interview published in the December 2021 issue of Gundam Ace, a monthly magazine focused on the Gundam series. Yoshikazu Yasuhiko, the director of Mobile Suit Gundam: Cucuruz Doan’s Island, stated that the manga was the reason this movie started.

Do you have to watch or read Mobile Suit Gundam to understand the movie?

Although it exists in the original Mobile Suit Gundam universe, a basic understanding of the universe is enough. Namely, two or more forces, usually Earth vs. the Colonies, and their battles using giant robotic suits and other vehicles.

Some entries are more about the everyday life of a pilot, others go in, stay in the cockpit and maybe get some fresh air. There’s even an anime where the Gundams are as big as humans and live!

The official synopsis reads: “After a covert mission goes awry, Amuro Ray, Gundam Pilot and his friends are stranded on a remote island.”

The battalion was sent to the island of no return to eliminate all enemy forces. Only to find a group of kids and an enemy mecha attacking, Amuro must find a way to escape from the island.

But not before he meets the mysterious Cucuruz Doan!
