The woman we see in the Cobra Kai season 5 trailer is South Korean sensei Kim Da-Eun, played by Australian actress Alicia Hannah-Kim. Da-Eun, who is familiar with Tang Soo Do, was apparently asked to come to the San Fernando Valley to help accelerate Cobra Kai’s expansion into an impressive franchise. We don’t know what she’s like yet, but Da-Eun’s collaboration with Silver can only mean that she’s a villain and doesn’t side with heroes Daniel and Johnny.

Fans have many predictions as to who the new Sensei Kim Da-Eun is, with one of the biggest predictions being that she is related to Tang Soo Do master Kim Sun Yung. “[Definitely] related to Kim Sun Yung,” Redditor u/senzukai said of Da-Eun’s appearance, to which u/Claim_Intelligent replied, “Exactly what I was thinking.” In the Karate Kid lore, Kim Sun Yung taught Captain Turner (Terry Serpico). ) Tang Soo Do in Vietnam, and Turner then taught Kreese and Silver the martial arts that would eventually form the basis of the Cobra Kai Dojo needed to succeed.

Speaking to Deadline, co-creator Jon Hurwitz said fans can expect “a lot of madness in Season 5; if you’re a fan of the franchise, a few familiar faces may or may not pop up; there will be a lot of karate.” What role Kim Da-Eun plays in this madness remains to be seen.
