In addition, the CDC has recommended getting booster jabs for only a few people who have been injected with the Moderna vaccine, while it is recommended for all the fifteen million people that have been injected with the Johnson and Johnson’s Janssen vaccine. The various medical institutes, clinics, and doctors have been permitted to provide booster shots to people from Friday.

The director of CDC, Dr. Rochelle Walensky, has stated that all the vaccines for the coronavirus that is operational in the United States are completely safe and this can be proven as four hundred million safe vaccinations have already been provided.

She said that all the vaccines have proven to be highly effective in decreasing the risk of hospitalization and deaths caused by the coronavirus.

On Thursday afternoon, a CDC advisory committee advised that people should be given the option to choose booster shots themselves, among the vaccines of Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna, and Johnson and Johnson’s Janssen. It stated that these booster doses would help in strengthening our immunity against the Covid-19 virus that kills almost 1,093 American people per day on average.

While the booster shot for Johnson and Johnson’s vaccine is recommended for all, the booster for Moderna vaccine is only recommended for those people who are older than sixty-five years of age, have received their second shot, and six months have passed after their second dose.

It is also recommended for people who are eighteen years and older only if they are under high risk due to the coronavirus, or their living or job conditions put them at risk for contracting Covid-19. The people who have gotten their first shot of the Johnson and Johnson vaccine at least two months ago have been recommended to get the second dose.

On Thursday, the CDC’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices gave its decision of approving the booster shots for all vaccines after going through the data given by the makers of the vaccines and a study conducted by the National Institutes of Health. The approval of similar recommendations that was given by the Food and Drug Administration on Wednesday was also considered for making the decision.

For a person to be considered fully immunized, it is not essential to get a booster dose. A person would be considered immunized if they have received two doses of either Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna or one dose of Johnson and Johnson’s Janssen.

All the booster doses are being provided for free by the government.

On 22nd September, the FDA gave its approval to authorize booster shots of Pfizer BioNTech for people above the age of sixty-five and for those who had a high risk of the coronavirus due to some existing health problems.

Approximately 189 million people of the American population have received full immunization against the Covid-19 virus which constitutes about fifty-seven percent of the American people.

The CDC has stated that the hospitalization rates of unvaccinated people are more by nine to fifteen times than those people who are vaccinated and according to its data, almost six percent of Americans that are fully immunized, have received booster shots for Covid-19.
