Bradley Cooper Is Unrecognizable As Leonard Bernstein In Maestro First Look

Bradley Cooper fans were amazed when Netflix got down to it Twitter and published the first photos of him as Leonard Bernstein. The images feature Cooper as young Bernstein alongside Carey Mulligan as his wife Felicia Montealegre, as well as photos of a prosthetics and makeup-enhanced Cooper as older Bernstein that were so apt to this Twitter user @OHsportsball wrote: “This is a ridiculously accurate replica of Leonard Bernstein. Almost creepy that it’s not a real picture of him.”

The man in charge of makeup is Kazu Hiro, who has long been admired for the impressive changes he’s made in his career as a prosthetic makeup designer. After winning the Oscars for Best Performance in Makeup and Hairstyling for 2017’s Darkest Hour, starring a changed Gary Oldman as Winston Churchill, and 2019’s Bombshell, he cemented his status as one of Hollywood’s finest.

Netflix executive director Scott Studer is confident about Maestro, telling Variety, “We’ve done a lot of makeup work. We worked a lot on the voice… I’m pleased to see someone so focused on writing a story that means so much to them.” Between Cooper’s commitment to telling Bernstein’s life as accurately as possible and Hiro’s dedication to his craft we can’t wait to see the end result of Maestro.
