Barring lucky members of the entertainment news media, no one will get a chance to see The Witcher: Blood Origin until its debut on December 25th. But that hasn’t stopped viewers on social media from insisting it will be dead on arrival. people like @hubertlepicki are speechless and insist Netflix “has good source material in [sic] shape of the books. You can only make it worse by putting your “creativity” into it. Should have adapted verbatim as much as possible you would have ended up with a decent show.” Redditor u/ThatPunkGaryOak82 also criticizes the writers for doing their job and bringing their creativity to a script they were paid to write, accusing them of “shoehorning “.[ing] in those awful fanfictions that… often suck and feel generic.”
On twitter, @SoftForHenry responded to Netflix’s teaser trailer tweet with a quote tweet of Cavill’s departure announcement, stressing that this is the end for her and she wouldn’t even give Blood Origin a chance. On Reddit, u/happyfestivusgeorgie predicts that the show will be canceled after one season, which is eerily prophetic since the show’s creator, Declan de Barra, has previously gone on record as saying the show was only going to be one season with a limited run of episodes.
