Before we move on to the oh-so-gruesome sights in the Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey trailer, a little prep might be in order, as longtime Pooh friends might be confused by the “chubby little box that stuffs everything.” “Honey” has become a bloodthirsty psycho killer. As Blood and Honey boss Rhys Frake-Waterfield explained to Variety, Christopher Robin has long since left his 100 Acre Wood Days behind and left Pooh and his friends to fend for themselves. The director notes : “Because they had to fend for themselves so much, they essentially went wild…they’re like a vicious bear and pig who want to run around and try to find prey.”
Judging by the Blood and Honey trailer, they find plenty of loot, starting with Christopher Robin (Nikolay Leon) and his girlfriend Mary (Paula Coiz) who meet a morbid end as Pooh’s former bestie to his 100-acre -Meet returns to introduce his old friends to his bride-to-be. Next we meet a group of ladies who have rented a fancy house near this very forest for a girls’ weekend. Pooh and Piglet – played by Craig David Dowsett and Chris Cordell behind masks that probably all too clearly convey the film’s likely budget constraints – smell like a feast and are quick on the hunt, with “Blood and Honey” becoming a full-fledged slasher get-together Cabin in the woods meets the nightmare of a home invasion.
The first glimpses of this nightmare will no doubt turn a few heads and probably a few stomachs as well. It also leaves no doubt as to what exactly Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey is. And if that’s your thing, don’t miss it.
