In Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, the relative strength of the Talokans versus the strength of the Wakandans left some people with questions. Reddit user u/BossHutch explained their confusion by saying, “I got a little confused when Okoye fought Namor[‘s] Soldiers in the street she stabbed them with mortal wounds and they healed instantly, but when Nakia shot them to save Shuri, they died and failed to heal. What’s going on?” Then u/BoiIedFrogs brought up the fact that Nakia was using a sonic weapon when she saved Shuri and Riri. Exactly what sonic weapons are in the MCU and how they manage to have more power than normal weapons will be discussed never explained in the film.
Then u/purrinsky stepped in to elaborate on the sonic weapon theory. “Our theory is that stab/puncture wounds are within the limits of Talokan’s healing abilities. However, as this user pointed out, the fact that no explanation is given in the film itself is a small issue with the storytelling.
In the same discussion thread, u/pingpong_playa had another theory unrelated to the sonic weapon. “I don’t know anything about the physics, but I thought it had to do with the different level[s] of the pressure that is so deep underwater vs. at the surface. A bit like how the same person can jump super high to low [gravity] but not much at all in high gravity.” So there are certainly a few ways to explain the problems with the powers of talokans, but it would have made things a lot easier if the film had offered an explanation.
