Behind the Line is Fafner’s latest anime spinoff in the Azure series. The show’s opening theme song and when it will air will be revealed in a trailer for the show. The premiere of Production IG’s latest anime feature is fast approaching. While it’s true that imitation is the highest form of flattery, it’s also easy to dismiss it as an admission of failure. Nobuyoshi Habara’s Fafner in The Azure Anime is a clear homage to or a copy of Neon Genesis Evangelion. However, it is significantly inferior to the original. Read this for full details.
There are now three Fafner anime series: Dead Aggressor (2004), Exodus (2015) and Beyond (2019-), plus the films Heaven and Earth (2008) and Right of Left (OVA). While the latest episode (Beyond) would add to this conversation, it’s being ignored as the show is still ongoing. The residents of the island face off against an alien race known as the Festum in the Fafner story. Fafner is supposed to protect the island. It consists of a fleet of mechas controlled by high school seniors.
Fafner In The Azure Anime: Official Announcement
This week an early screening of the new spinoff episode Fafner in the Azure: BEHIND THE LINE took place at the Marunouchi Piccadilly Theater in Tokyo, giving us yet another chance to see it before it premieres online. Angela’s theme song “Start Again” makes its debut and more of the episode will be previewed. Since the premiere of the first TV anime in 2004, the two-person unit angela has provided themes for the series. Soon the show will have its full theatrical debut in Japan and the digital single will be available with it.
The new anime was first teased at the 2017 Minashiro Birthday Party and features a full story. Those who saw it called it a “quiet offshoot.” Production IG, once again led by Takashi Noto, is animating the series. Tow Ubukata is currently composing the script. The creator of these characters is Hisashi Hirai. Angela will sing the anthem. All original cast members return to their respective roles.
What is the plot?
Dead Aggressor has the best graphics and soundtrack, but its story falls short. That’s because the show got a new head writer halfway through the season, who raised the bar considerably. A lack of narrative cohesion plagues the first few episodes, despite their abundance of action sequences and Nordic-sounding technology. There’s a lot of room for development, for example in the story’s shift in focus from the love triangle between Maya, Soushi and Kazuki. All about the homoerotic undercurrents of Kazuki and Soushi’s relationship.
Ubakata’s inability to recover from those ailments in Dead Aggressor and Exodus came as no surprise. Considering that a solid foundation is essential for the construction of any building. Exodus is a great work in its own right because it shows how the island’s isolationism ended. And how the desperate people of Srinagar left the city.
