Immediately after filming Blonde, Ana de Armas had to fly to London to shoot her next film, the James Bond film No Time to Die, in which she plays CIA agent Paloma. Because she was shooting something else straight away, de Armas confessed to Variety that she felt she didn’t have enough time to mourn Marilyn, and at the end of her time impersonating her, de Armas said, “I couldn’t shake it . I couldn’t let her go. I’ve visited her in her graveyard a few times – I would have loved to go again.”

Since she was still trying to shake off Marilyn during the filming of No Time To Die, de Armas thinks Paloma has a little bit of Marilyn in her as a result. The actress explained, “I’m sure there’s something Marilyn in it [Paloma]. There is! Her energy and her charm and that thing where she was lit from within — Paloma stole a little bit from her.”

And years after directing both films, de Arma finally got to experience “Blonde” in a crowded theater at the Venice Film Festival, after seeing it alone several times. She described the experience of seeing it in a theater as bigger and more immersive. The actress concluded, “It was like double vision. We looked at the people looking at her. It was such a surreal point of view.”
