The U.S. health officials have warned the health professionals about the risks of the false-positive results which are widely being used in the laboratory test for flu and Covid-19. The FDA or Food and Drug Administration has issued an alert on Friday to the health facilities that were using ‘Roche’s Cobas test’ for the testing of seasonal flu and coronavirus. FDA has issued a warning that there are problems with this test’s processing tubes that could result in a false diagnosis of the people who are not infected in reality.
How Is America Preparing For Biden’s Plan?
The ‘Roche’s testing system’ is currently being used in screening large batches of individuals in laboratories and hospitals. The FDA has recommended the health workers to test these samples many times which will help knowing whether these tests are accurate or not. If this test gives multiple conflicting results that may indicate a big problem and its use must be discontinued, as said by the agency.
In Las Vegas, the top Covid-19 official, Nevada said there is no guarantee that the state will be able to meet President Biden’s goal of giving a vaccine to each and every individual who wants a vaccine by the first of May but has said they would be trying to give everyone a vaccine shot. Caleb Cage, the Covid-19 task force chief, said that everything will depend on the vaccination allocation. 17 news Covid19 deaths has been reported statewide on Friday, which brings the total pandemic in Nevada to around 5,100. Number of cases across the state is near to 3 million while in Nevada the vaccine has hit the mark of 575,000 of the vaccine shots. The state officials have said that more than 10% of the state population or at least 324,000 Nevadans have been fully vaccinated now.
In Des Moines, Iowa greater than 1 million of the doses of Covid-19 vaccine shots now is being administered in the Iowa, even for the residents who are struggling to get appointments for a vaccine shot. On Friday, the Iowa Department of Public Health said that the state of Iowa has administered more than 1.03 million doses. This milestone also reflects the significant increase in the vaccine supplies. It still remains unclear how this state will be handling the surge in the demand as more and more adults will become eligible in the upcoming months. But Iowa doesn’t have any centralized system for the people in securing a vaccine appointment.
The Gov. Kim Reynolds has dismissed the early plan in paying Microsoft for setting up the statewide appointment and registration scheduling program. The state has set up a website which offers more information about where one can get the vaccines but this leaves the scheduling process to the individuals. On Thursday, President Biden had said in the evening – he is expecting the nation will have a sufficient supply of the vaccine by the first of May so everyone who wants this vaccine will be easily able to get an appointment. Reynolds had said that Iowa could easily beat this deadline if the supply of vaccines increases gradually and remains stable. It still remains unclear if Iowa can handle such a pressure of very high volume of the people. Already there is a bottleneck that appears in the setting up of appointments which is not easily available to the local people.
In Washington, the former coronavirus coordinator of the White House, Dr. Deborah Birx has joined George W. Bush Institute as an instructor. This is how we can see there are different preparations going on to fulfill Biden’s plan in the U.S.
