Mexican Lawyer Launches New Toilet Paper Brand To Wipe Out Trump

“Make American Great Again”? Meh. Move over. An attorney from a neighboring nation is now producing something to make Mexicans “Feel Great Again.” And with a punch of poetic justice, to boot.

That’s right – a new toilet tissue with brand name of “Trump Paper” is now beginning production, and will be available in Mexican retail stores before the end of the year.

Featuring a roll with Trump’s hairstyle as its logo, the packaging reads “softness without borders.” A seal on the package adds “this is how you can support migrants.”

An image on the back of the package depicts multiple rolls of tissue. “This is the wall we are going to pay for.”

Mexican attorney Antonio Battaglia has been brewing the idea since mid-2015. That’s when Donald Trump, early in his presidential campaign, began making questionable comments regarding immigration in general and against Mexicans in particular.

From his Trump Tower in New York City, Trump said in June of that year:

“When Mexico sends its people, they’re not sending their best. They’re sending people that have lots of problems, and they’re bringing those problems with them. They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists.”

Battaglia told CNN Expansión (the U.S. network’s Spanish-language online affiliate):

“It annoyed me and I started to look for a way to do something that would have an impact, not in a tone of mocking or revenge but in a positive way.”

Shortly after in October 2015, Battaglia obtained a trademark for the “Trump Paper” name.

While the Trump Organization already held multiple trademarks in Mexico for use of the name on many other items, it apparently failed to apply for one in the category of toilet tissue (or “sanitary paper,” the literal translation of “toilet paper” in Spanish).

Battaglia told Associated Press:

“My thinking was, ‘we can’t keep quiet,’ right? So with this insult that was made, I’m going to add my grain of sand in response.”

An initial investment of just over $20,000 will produce two cargo trucks full of “Trump Paper,” which is about to begin production. Battaglia hopes early promotion of the brand will generate enough demand to generate more.

While his goal is certainly anti-Trump, it’s definitely not anti-American, Battaglia says. He told Newsweek:

“I actually love that country and its people. I am very grateful to U.S. people and feel strongly bounded to them.”

As a child, Battaglia was twice brought across the border for heart surgery, and returned to the U.S. two other times for educational purposes, including his law degree from New York University.

Battaglia promises 30 percent of the profits will be donated to organizations that provide aid to migrants and Mexicans deported from the U.S.
