The West Hollywood City Council voted on Monday night to officially remove President Trump’s star from the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Currently, Trump’s star is located near the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce.
West Hollywood Mayor John Duran confirmed the move via Twitter.
West Hollywood Mayor Pro Tem John D’Amico and Councilwoman Lindsey Horvath urged the City of Los Angeles to get rid of it “due to [Trump’s] disturbing treatment of women and other actions.”
Its removal is seen as highly symbolic in that the city does not support Trump or his policies.
Here’s what the star looked like before taking a beating by protesters:
Now here’s what it looks like:
You can barely recognize it anymore.
People have been defacing it in West Hollywood ever since Trump got elected.
One man in the area was recently charged for vandalizing the star last month with a pickaxe. The 24-year-old man turned himself in to authorities on July 25th after doing the damage. He should have waited just a few more days, because its going away, anyways.
Trump first received the star some years back after having paid $40,000 for it. Now that the City Council made their vote, that money will go to waste.
